Parents of Level 3 / Year 1 students
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We wanted to share some information with you to help you to support your son or daughter at this crucial step in their education. Our students are already researching and planning the next step after their level 3 qualification whether this be to University, into an Apprenticeship or into the world of work.
The teaching and support team at the College provide a lot of information and guidance about the opportunities opening up to young people once they achieve their level 3 qualification, they will meet with lots of different employers and Higher Education providers during their course and will participate in lots of extra activities like work experience, projects and competitions to help them fully explore their skills and abilities.
We have provided parents with some extra resources in this section and provided links to useful sources of further information to empower you to support your son or daughter achieve their dreams.
We would also like to take this opportunity to let you know about the University Centre offer available here at Wigan & Leigh College. For some young people moving away from home to gain a higher level qualification will not be the right choice but that does not have to be the end of their education journey with a varied programme of study available here at the College. As a current student you son or daughter can benefit from our direct application process, gaining in effect a 6th choice of Higher education options if they also apply through UCAS and this choice is free of charge.
